Been a long time since I posted on here. I have another LiveJournal blog, but will probably post here as well. Yea, I know, it does seem kinda stupid - but I like the different options between the two, and I have different friends on LiveJournal.
Anyway, a lot has happened, will update again soon. Keep posted.

Brief Update

Ok, so the below video has been removed by Fox. You can purchase all of Adam's American Idol videos (and studio versions of the songs) on iTunes though. I purchased them all - they are great!

Wow. REALLY. Just... wow.

There are several contestants on American Idol who I have been keeping an eye on, who have great voices - the thing is they have yet to blow me away. Adam Lambert however now has - I wasn't crazy about him at first but now I can't get enough. I can't stop listening to his version of "Ring of Fire", it is absolutely amazing! The raw power of his vocals, his control, the range of his voice.... So hot. Take a listen for yourself.

I think this has to be my favorite American Idol audition ever!!

iPod Skins!

Here they are! I love this pattern. Hopefully they will add it to their Kindle line at some point too.

Oberon Raven Kindle Cover

This post is a little late but oh well. Here is a pic of my Oberon Raven Kindle cover - it really doesn't do the cover justice. The actual color is a pretty, darker brown.

I love stuff from Oberon Design! My wish list from them keeps growing... However, I think this is my next purchase.

I ordered some skins from DecalGirl for my Kindle and iPod last week, and yesterday (well.. 12/31) they arrived - I chose two flower designs for my Kindle (to coordinate with my Oberon cover that should arrive sometime later on today!) and a black & purple paisley design for my iPod. I love them! They are an easy way to change the look of your stuff without doing anything drastic. I haven't "skinned" my Kindle yet, but my iPod looks great. Once my Oberon cover arrives I will skin my Kindle and take pictures of all. :-D

Annnd it has arrived.

Umm... several days ago. December 2nd to be exact. This post is a little late.
But the Kindle is a pretty cool device! The only thing I'm bumming about is the fact that I have yet to find anywhere near where I live that I can use the WhisperNet service. It uses Sprint's network to wirelessly let you shop the Amazon bookstore and then uses the same network to deliver to you any books that you have purchased. There are a few more places I can try, but if they don't have the service either then oh well. I can still get the books onto my Kindle from my computer with a USB cable but that's not as fun.

EDIT: 1/9/09 - I discovered that I can get WhisperNet service in West Lebanon! Yay!

Of course the estimated arrival date is between Dec 3rd and Dec 9th.... :-(

Amazon Kindle

I really want to get the Amazon Kindle! Of course this is not surprising since I love technology gadgets. If you haven't heard, it's an e-book reader that uses wireless service to deliver books to you once you have purchased them. According to Amazon.com you can shop the Kindle bookstore right from the device, read the first few pages of a book to see if you want to buy it, then once you do it is delivered to your Kindle in less than 1 minute. (Get a much better description at amazon.com - I don't feel like describing what I know about it right now.) Sounds pretty awesome to me! I have been thinking about it, coming up with ideas to justify buying it. Here's what I've got:

Pros
-doesn't use paper (thus saving trees!)
-can hold approximately 200 books, all in a package the size of a small paperback (no more bookshelves taking up all that room! and you can take them all with you wherever you go)
-all books purchased are backed up on your Amazon.com account so if your Kindle is damaged or lost you can just download them again to your new Kindle
-most books are $9.99 as opposed to the upwards of $30 many hardcovers are these days
-wireless book shopping and delivery!
-it'll be much more difficult for me to skip ahead and read a little bit, giving things away (my bad reading habit)
-etc.

Cons
-you don't have the books purchased in hard copy
-can't really think of any others..

Hm. I just have to decide whether I want to spring for the first model that is out now, or be patient and wait for the second release that will likely contain updates and upgrades...

If you have a Kindle, I would love to hear what you think of it! Just leave me a comment. :-)
